About Aldeas Infantiles SOS
Aldeas infantiles is a NGO that hosts children in a risk or abandonment situation in "Villages" - social and educational communities - composed of a group of houses. In each house they live together as a large family, about 9 children, regardless of their age but always privileging fraternal bond. The goal is to reproduce a family environment so that life in the village is as close to any other child's as it can be, including promoting their participation in activities appropriate to their age. This is possible thanks to the figure of a permanent "adoptive mother", who raises and lives together with the children she is responsible for, giving them emotional and physical stability.

Moreover, the commitment of Aldeas to the children goes beyond their full age by looking after the child until their total autonomy and integration into Society.

Aldeas Infantiles, with 172,000 members in Spain, is a member of the UNESCO, present in 132 countries, and in Spain and Portugal supports about 3000 children from 11 Villages distributed in Spain between Barcelona, Cuenca, Las Palmas, Madrid, Granada, Zaragoza, Tenerife and Pontevedra as well as in Portugal between Lisboa, Guardia and Oporto. In 2008 we championed the proposal that Aldeas worked in San Lorenzo del Escorial, as well as Sant Feliu de Codines.(Barcelona) - For more information please visit: www.aldeasinfantiles.es.
