Subirats, Spain - 28 May, 2009- CEVA Logistics, a leading global supply chain management company, has launched its state-of the art 55,000 m² multi-user Logistics Centre at Ontígola, south of Madrid. It has begun the transfer of operations, along with its customers from its warehouse located at Seseña (Toledo-España) to Ontigola. The total investment realized in this Real Estate, comprising two warehouses means around 30 Millions of euros, and approximately 200 people are expected to be employed in the site.Customers' operations are in the process of being transferred following months of careful planning, ensuring, at all time, that service levels are maintained. - The second warehouse will be completed during the last quarter of 2009. In the near future, new customers will also be integrated in this top level warehouse. The Center was designed by Gazeley, in accordance with CEVA's requests, a global provider of sustainable logistics space, to be environmentally sustainable, powered by solar energy and using other efficiency technologies such as rain water collection. Beginning with the start up phase, CEVA will run all the operations according to LEAN processes and on-going improvement culture. Strategically located south of Madrid, it is well connected by N-IV road and the R4 highway, as well as the planned motorway to Valencia, an increasingly important imports hub.
"The new Center is testament to our efforts to offer operations excellence to our customers and meet the highest quality standards. This is an exciting venture for us and a solid step forward in the development of sustainable and efficient operations. At times of economic downturn, it is a decisive commitment of our Company towards the Iberian market, and also a possibility to achieve organic growth" said Giuseppe Chiellino, Managing Director for CEVA Iberia.
"With the introduction of environmental technologies, Gazeley develops sustainable real estate without extra costs for its customers. In fact, this new Center will actually benefit from the reduction in energy consumption and emissions. It represents important savings for the operating expenses." said José de la Calle, Managing Director for Gazeley Spain.
