CEVA is awarded the ABML 2007 Award
São Paulo, Brazil - CEVA Logistics celebrates, for the third year in a row, the ABML Award, received in the category of Information Technology applied to Logistics. The annual award was held yesterday, September 18, in São Paulo. This price rewards companies with outstanding results in projects and solutions development in logistics and supply chains.
The companies filed for the award of the Brazilian Association for Transportation and Logistics (ABML) competed in seven different categories. The examining board was formed by professors of renowned educational institutions that studied presented cases closely.
The project submitted by CEVA’s IT team jointly with General Motors (GM), explained the integration of systems and achieved positive results in the logistics of the GM assembly line. The customization of the Warehouse Management System Click (WMS Click) used by CEVA to manage the supply chain, was fundamental to connect the three existing programs of GM (SMM, Flex and EPS) and therefore make the procedures more efficient.
Other activities included in this project were control of data by radio frequency, bidimensional bar codes, RFID, reuse of smart tags and electronic monitoring of the whole process. "Receiving the ABML Award shows that we offer differentiated services of excellent quality. In the case submitted, we were concerned in integrating our systems with those of GM in order to overcome all expectations of the assembly line. With this project, it was possible to reduce the number of failures in the production of engines reaching a rate of only 0.03% product rejection", declares Emerson Linder, Client Administration Manager in the CEVA technology area.
The scope of the logistics activities explained in this project comprises the consolidation and sequencing of parts and subassemblies of engines, with the last one being performed jointly with AV Manufacturing, a company of the CEVA group.
