26 March 2009 - 14:00 CET
Milan, Italy, 26 March 2009 - CEVA Logistics, one of the world's leading supply chain companies, has consolidated its partnership with Fiat Powertrain Technologies (FPT), a Fiat Group company, leader in the area of mechanical products, components and motors. CEVA will take responsibility for the management of inbound logistics ranging from goods reception to the transportation of materials and the delivery of motors - as well as value added activities such as kitting and pre-assembly. Fiat Powertrain Technologies is an important player in the international automotive sector, boasting a turnover of around 7 billion euro in 2008 and annual production levels of around 2.9 million motors and 2.4 million gearboxes and axles. The activities will be carried out at the FPT plant and at an external warehouse in Pratola Serra, in the Avellino province, where 7000 m2 will be dedicated to Fiat Powertrain. It is expected that a total volume of 570,000 motors will be managed in this site every year. CEVA will use over 100 vehicles to achieve the best efficiency in the process.
FTP needed a partner with significant, proven expertise in its sector, which shared the same goal of continual improvement and innovation. CEVA's ability to provide highly specialized logistics engineering solutions, optimize available resources and raise the overall performance levels of the supply chain was key on the process of account renewal. "The extension of the partnership with Fiat Powertrain is prestigious recognition of the operational quality and excellence achieved by CEVA, which consolidates its reputation as a reliable logistics partner with solid expertise, able to provide solutions in line with the requirements of companies, also at dynamic times in the market such as these" commented Gianfranco Sgro, President of CEVA for South Europe, Middle East and Africa.
