Ford Brasil elects TNT as the best Logistics Operator

12 November 2002 - 14:43 CET

TNT Brazil received the "Ford Motor Company Brazil Supplier of the Year Award" as Ford's best logistics operator in the country. The award, created a year ago, is given annually to ten companies in various categories, five being suppliers of production material and five of non-production material. The aim is to recognise and encourage the dedication of Ford's partners to increased product and service quality towards customer satisfaction.

Ford's award ceremony took place on November the 11th in São Paulo, conducted by Richard Canny, CEO for Ford South America, and Antônio Maciel, CEO for Ford Brazil. Gianfranco Sgro, CEO for TNT Brazil and South America, represented the company.

Rigorous selection
Companies undergo a strict selection process to deserve the "Ford Motor Company Brazil Supplier of the Year Award". The main parameters include quality, the cost of products and services and efficiency in customer service. In the production material category suppliers must be Q1, MS 9000, QS 9000 and QOS certified to be allowed to compete. Next year the ISO 14000 environmental certification will also be required as a prerequisite.

A second evaluation phase is conducted after choosing five finalists in each of the ten categories. Ford's services, logistics, manufacturing and engineering departments - internal customers for these suppliers - assign grades 1 to 3 to participating companies. The total sum indicates the winners. At the end of the process, companies reaching the highest grade among contestants in the production and non-production materials areas also receive the "Ford Motor Company Brazil Award of Excellence".

Recognition
The Ford award can be added to other awards that TNT has received from its customers. At the beginning of this year the company received the General Motors "2001 Certificate of Merit", an award given to the 53 outstanding companies among the 542 GM suppliers in Brazil.
