04 December 2002 - 17:00 CET

Heidelberg - a German company providing solutions to the printing industry - chose TNT Logistics, one of the largest logistics companies worldwide, as its logistics services operator in Brazil.

The partnership with Heidelberg is another global contract for TNT (the German company presently uses its logistics services in Germany and France). This new contract, added to other customers such as Xerox, BSH Continental, Embraco and Souza Cruz, places TNT at the forefront in the electronics and consumer products sectors in Brazil. "We are consolidating our position as one of the local leaders in the distribution of parts and accessories", states André Chiarini, director for electronic and consumer products.

The agreement between TNT and Heidelberg is a three-year contract and operations start in March 2003. Initially services will be provided directly in the Sao Paulo metropolitan region, with managing responsibilities for nation-wide deliveries.

TNT will be responsible for most of Heidelberg's logistics operations, including: reception, storage, added value services such as handling of chemical products, and transport and distribution management.

Investments
TNT will invest R$ 300 thousand in infrastructure for the Heidelberg project, including pallet-holders, special two-tiered shelf structures, movement equipment and IT/systems, as well as adaptation works for a one thousand sq. metro area in the Diadema warehouse.

Competitive Advantage
Heidelberg's choice of TNT followed specific points such as previous experience in implementing and managing deliveries in the printing industry sector. TNT has ample experience and excellent results in managing the logistics chain for maintenance of electronic equipment.

André Chiarini discloses that the experience and the structure provided by TNT for Heidelberg's operations, together with international recognition, were among the decisive points in establishing the partnership. "This contract reinforces TNT's capability to support printer and copier sector companies," he adds.
