Milan, Italy, 11 February 2010 - CEVA Logistics, a leading global supply chain management company, has signed a three-year agreement with MAZDA, innovative car manufacturer, for the management of the distribution of spare parts throughout Italy.Following this contract win, CEVA will collect the spare parts from the MAZDA warehouse in Klagenfurt, Austria on a daily basis and transport them to the CEVA centre at Bentivoglio, near Bologna. An estimated 120,000 packages will be sorted and distributed to the 140 MAZDA Services (car dealers and authorized repairers) across Italy every year. Vital to the efficiency of the operation is CEVA's ability to deliver the spare parts by midday the day after collection, in most regions of Italy. Constant visibility and traceability of the single parcels using the Track&Trace system is essential in providing MAZDA with real time and accurate information. CEVA will also manage the handling and processing of returns, including collecting parts from the dealers and shipping them to the company's warehouse in Austria.
Manu Saels, MAZDA Manager Logistics Administration, P&A Logistics said: "CEVA was the clear choice for managing our spare parts distribution. Their outstanding reputation and experience in the automotive industry, combined with a high level focus on operations excellence were impressive. CEVA's ability to understand what's was important to us as a business and then engineer a solution that met our requirements has left us in no doubt that we will enjoy a profitable and successful relationship with CEVA over the next three years".
Gianfranco Sgro, President, Southern Europe, Middle East and Africa, CEVA said: "Through the efficiency of our distribution solution, MAZDA will be able to assure a rapid and punctual delivery service to its dealers, whilst optimizing transport costs. CEVA is the uncontested leader in Italy for the provision of logistics services to companies in the automotive sector, and we look forward to using our expertise to maximize the effectiveness of MAZDA's spare parts supply chain."
