Ovaltine boost for TNT Network Logistics
10 November 2003 - 08:59 CET
TNT Network Logistics has added Ovaltine products to the wide range of FMCG goods it moves through its nationwide, integrated, shared user network.Ovaltine was acquired late last year by Twinings, a TNT Network Logistics client since 1990. Twinings has now added the Ovaltine warehousing and distribution contract - almost two million cases annually - to the volumes TNT Network Logistics already handles for Twinings.
The contract involves the annual storage and distribution of more than nine million cases of tea and Ovaltine/Options to major supermarkets and wholesalers as well as food service customers, including restaurants.
The Twinings stock is delivered on pallets from factories in Newcastle and Andover into the TNT Network Logistics hub at Wellesbourne, whereas the Ovaltine product is manufactured in both the UK and Switzerland. There are
400 varieties of tea and 40 different Ovaltine products, which are picked, packed and despatched 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
"We can put both products on the same pallet for the same delivery - creating a highly efficient delivery system," says David Bermingham, Managing Director, TNT Network Logistics. "We are delighted that Twinings has recognised the quality of the work we do for them by awarding us this extra work."
