The ideal partner for American Standard Europe: TNT Logistics Germany has been operating a distribution centre for the bath ceramics and fittings manufacturer since 1 July 2003 and also oversees transport to the Benelux region, France, UK and other countries.
TNT Logistics Germany, a subsidiary of the globally operating mail, express and logistics company TPG, has taken over the running of the distribution centre for bath fittings and ceramics in Sohren, Germany. The centre, situated near Hahn im Hunsrück airport, was previously operated by Edwards Logistics Deutschland GmbH, a 100% subsidiary of American Standard Companies Inc. Ideal Standard is a brand of the American Standard Group.
‘American Standard decided to restructure its European supply chain following an analysis of logistics processes in the region', explained Marc Toussaint, European Logistics Director at American Standard. European Warehouse Manager Michael Moll added, ‘Our reason for selecting TNT Logistics is first and foremost its strategic position as one of the world's leading logistics operators. There will be plenty of opportunity to expand on the partnership with American Standard'.
TNT Logistics' activities currently extend from warehousing to transport management. Both companies are analysing the expansion of their collaborative partnership to include other countries. TNT Logistics is also set to organise domestic and international procurement logistics for raw materials in the future.
In concrete terms, TNT Logistics is responsible for all physical and administrative activities such as goods receipt, storage in palette warehouses and small-parts warehouses, order picking, packaging, dispatch preparation, return handling, cross docking and, as mentioned earlier, transport management. TNT Logistics has rented a warehouse with over 7,000 square metres of storage space. The contract came into effect on 1 July 2003 and will initially run for three years.
‘Our co-operation with a company as innovative and quality oriented as American Standard has once again emphasised our core competence', said Jens Müller of TNT Logistics, ‘the development and realisation of logistics solutions tailored to customer needs'.
