TNT Network Logistics wins SRB national distribution contract

18 September 2006 - 11:45 CET

TNT Network Logistics has won a contract to distribute SRB products, mainly fasteners and fixings (nuts and bolts), throughout the UK until 2008.

The products are collected from the SRB warehouses in Bilston, West Midlands and sorted into individual delivery loads before being trunked to 11 TNT Network Logistics depots.

At the depots, the loads are entered into the multi-user distribution network and delivered to engineering wholesalers and distributors on a daily, weekly or ad hoc basis. There will be about 1,200 deliveries a week ranging in size from parcels to pallets to long-length materials.

TNT Network Logistics operates the largest high quality multi-user distribution network in the UK, combining products from many different manufacturers and suppliers and delivering to wholesalers and Regional Distribution Centres as well as individual shops and offices.

David Bermingham, Managing Director, TNT Network Logistics explains: "Not only do we contribute to reducing road miles and congestion at distribution hubs, we also offer a highly efficient and cost-effective service to each of our customers. They get the quality of a dedicated service - with the benefits of the economies of scale and cost sharing of a multi-user network."

TNT Network Logistics operates Primary Consolidation Centres for major supermarkets and also works for suppliers including Del Monte, Wrigleys, Golden Wonder and Whitworths. Under the Newsfast brand, it carries most of the nation's newspapers as well as delivering magazines, stationery, books, packaging and paper through the multi-user network.

"SRB has recognised the benefits of working with us and we are delighted to add them to our portfolio of clients. There are excellent synergies with our other industrial operations," says Mr Bermingham.
