05 May 2005 - 11:23 CET
TNT Network Logistics, the largest quality multi-user supply chain network in the UK, has renewed its contract with International Paper Containers (IPC) for a further three years.TNT delivers IPC corrugated boxes to the production lines of manufacturers of food, fresh products and consumer durables. The boxes are custom-made for the packaging of specific products and delivered on a just-in-time basis.
Stephen McCandless, Finance Director at IPC, says that since the two companies began working together in April 2001, IPC and its customers have noticed a significant improvement in service.
"The partnership with TNT has allowed us to focus on our core manufacturing business whilst remaining confident that the final leg of the supply chain is being run efficiently and professionally by specialists. They have handled our growth and are an integral part of our customer service offering to our customers."
David Bermingham, Managing Director, TNT Network Logistics, says: "The corrugated boxes are a high volume commodity so the manufacturers don't want to hold a lot of stock. They want smaller loads, but more often. By using a combination fleet of dedicated and shared user vehicles, we can maximise flexibility to gain optimum efficiency."
The nationwide service, which operates 24 hours a day, collects boxes from International Paper Containers' manufacturing sites at Winsford in Cheshire and Thrapston in Northamptonshire.
International Paper Containers, part of US-based International Paper, the largest paper company in the world, has 17 manufacturing sites in the UK, France, Spain and Italy and produces 800,000 tonnes of corrugated boxes annually.
