11 July 2001 - 16:40 CET

TPG (TNT Post Group N.V.) announced it has acquired the remaining 49% of French Logistics Company BARLATIER S.A. The announcement comes one year after TPG's initial purchase of a 51% stake in this company.

Barlatier, which has its headquarters in Bouc Bel Air near Marseilles, was founded in 1892 and specialises in providing logistics services for leading industrial, pharmaceutical, electronics and consumer goods companies. In 2000, Barlatier achieved a total turnover of EUR 52 million (FF 341 million). Barlatier has 700 employees and operates 17 depots covering 250.000 square metres. Jean Pierre Barlatier will remain in charge of the company and the headquarters will remain located in Bouc Bel Air.

TPG has acquired Barlatier through its TNT Logistics division to reinforce its position in the French and European logistics market in specific sectors, including electronics/telecoms and consumer goods. Furthermore, the acquisition benefits both TNT and Barlatier's customers by offering the combined expertise, expanded capabilities and increased distribution assets (e.g. warehouses) of the two companies.

Roberto Rossi, Group Managing Director TNT Logistics, says, "Barlatier's expertise has proven to be a perfect fit with our sector-focused strategy in Southern Europe. With the acquisition now complete, we look forward to further leveraging our combined strength to the benefit of our customers." Recently won contracts by Barlatier include a three-year renewal for Bouygues Telecom and a new contract with French retailer Carrefour to provide warehousing and distribution throughout the Paris region.
